Job Description – Human Resource Managers and Directors

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Role Overview

The Recruitment Manager is responsible for leading and managing the organisation’s recruitment and talent acquisition operations. The role ensures effective workforce planning, strategic hiring, compliance with UK employment legislation, and delivery of high-quality recruitment outcomes that support organisational growth. The post holder will oversee recruitment policies, manage hiring campaigns, analyse workforce data, and advise senior leadership on resourcing strategies.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the organisation’s full recruitment function, including job design, advertising, screening, interviewing, selection, and onboarding.
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies aligned with organisational objectives and workforce planning needs.
  • Manage high-volume and specialist recruitment campaigns, ensuring timely and compliant hiring.
  • Oversee employer branding, candidate engagement, and talent-pipeline development.
  • Ensure compliance with UK employment law, equality legislation, and Home Office right-to-work requirements.
  • Maintain recruitment policies, procedures, and documentation in line with statutory and organisational standards.
  • Manage relationships with external recruitment partners, job boards, training providers, and assessment centres.
  • Analyse recruitment metrics (time-to-hire, cost-per-hire, retention trends) and prepare reports for senior management.
  • Oversee onboarding and induction processes, ensuring new hires receive appropriate training and support.
  • Provide strategic advice on talent acquisition, succession planning, and organisational development.
  • Manage recruitment systems (ATS/HRIS), ensuring accurate record-keeping and GDPR-compliant data handling.
  • Lead and mentor recruitment staff, ensuring high standards of service delivery and continuous improvement.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications Required

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience in recruitment management or senior talent acquisition roles.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation, recruitment compliance, and right-to-work processes.
  • Experience designing recruitment strategies and managing end-to-end hiring cycles.
  • Ability to analyse workforce data and produce management reports.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience using HRIS and applicant tracking systems (ATS).
  • Ability to manage complex recruitment campaigns and support organisational change.

Desirable Requirements

  • CIPD qualification (Level 5 or above) or equivalent HR/recruitment certification.
  • Experience in sector-specific recruitment (e.g., healthcare, hospitality, tech, education).
  • Experience managing recruitment budgets and agency contracts.
  • Knowledge of diversity, inclusion, and equal-opportunity best practices.
